Outlook 2007: Problems deleting RSS feeds
Problem:
Outlook will not delete RSS feeds, either due to syncing from the CFL (Common Feeds List) or otherwise.
Symptoms I experienced:
- When you delete an RSS feed from inside Outlook 2007, it pops up an error dialog stating insufficient permissions (even though you do have Owner permissions--check in the Properties of the RSS feed).
- You can delete an RSS feed, but it just comes back, mysteriously.
- You've deleted all RSS feeds, but they come back, mysteriously.
Solution:
The solution for me was to effectively delete the RSS feeds in three ways:
- You need OWA (Outlook Web Access) for this: login via OWA, go into your Folders, select RSS feeds. You will be presented with a checklist. Check the feeds you want to delete, then hit the Delete button. You should be able to delete the feeds which have been popping up with permission errors via OWA. This however does not sync up with the Outlook client: it did not clear the deleted RSS feeds from the folder in the Outlook 2007 client.
- Delete as many of the feeds as you can in Outlook 2007 client. Leave the ones with errors, for now.
- Finally, go into Outlook > Tools > Account Settings > RSS Feeds. You should see all RSS feeds attached to your data file. You should be able to delete the feeds which gave you the permission denied error.
Having done this, I restarted Outlook 2007. Lo and behold--all RSS feeds, including the ones with errors were successfully deleted and removed from Outlook.
Hope this helps; I've had this problem with my Outlook data files since before Office 2007 RTM'd, I reckon I my not be the only one who has experienced this or something similar.
